About the authors
Catherine D. Marcum
Professor and Assistant Chair
Appalachian State University

Dr. Catherine D. Marcum is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Government and Justice Studies at Appalachian State University. She earned a Ph.D. in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her areas of teaching and research focus on correctional issues, cybercrime, and victimization. She has published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and 20 books in her fields. Dr. Marcum is currently the editor of the Journal of Criminal Justice Education, as well as the co-program Chair for the 2027 Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Annual Meeting.
