D. Benjamin Barros is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Professor of Law at Widener’s Harrisburg campus. Professor Barros joined Widener in 2004 from the New York office of Latham & Watkins LLP, where his practice focused on international litigation and arbitration. Professor Barros also practiced in the New York office of Debevoise & Plimpton and was a law clerk to the Honorable Milton Pollack of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. During the 2007-08 school year, Professor Barros was a Visiting Associate Professor of Law at Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law.

At Widener, Professor Barros teaches Property, Business Organizations, Real Estate Transactions, and Seminars on Takings and Property Theory. His research focuses on property law and theory, property law reform, and takings. Professor Barros served as Associate Dean of Faculty Research and Development from 2011-2014. Professor Barros is active in the Association of American Law Schools and currently is a member of the AALS Executive Committee. He previously served as Chair of the AALS Committee on Sections and Annual Meeting and of the AALS Property Section. Professor Barros is also active in the Association for Law, Property, and Society. He recently completed a term as President of ALPS and is now the founding editor of the Journal of Law, Property, and Society, a new journal being published by ALPS.

Anna P. Hemingway
Associate Professor of Law
Widener University, Harrisburg

Anna Hemingway is an Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Legal Methods Program at Widener's Harrisburg campus. Professor Hemingway received a B.S. from Drexel University, an M.A. (Clinical Psychology) from West Chester University, and a J.D. from Temple University School of Law, where she served as an editor of the Temple Environmental Law & Technology Journal. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Following graduation from law school, she served as Assistant Corporate Counsel for the Palmer Corporations, including Fine Line Homes and Residential Warranty Corporation. Professor Hemingway joined the faculty at Widener in 1998. She has a passion for legal writing, legal ethics, and academic support. She teaches and writes in the areas of Appellate Advocacy, Intensive Legal Analysis, Interviewing and Counseling, Leadership, Legal Ethics, Legal Methods, Law and Psychology, Mediation, and Property. She has presented at several national and international conferences. Professor Hemingway has been active in a number of professional and civic organizations, including the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Association of Legal Writing Directors, and the Legal Writing Institute. She also serves as an editor for the Office of the Tribunal, Diocese of Harrisburg.

Gregory S. Alexander
A. Robert Noll Professor of Law
Cornell University

Professor Gregory Alexander, a nationally renowned expert in property and trusts and estates, has taught at Cornell Law School since 1985. Following his graduation from Northwestern University School of Law, he clerked for the Hon. George Edwards of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. After he completed further study as a Bigelow Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School, Alexander became a professor at the University of Georgia School of Law, where he remained until coming to Cornell.

An active member of the academic community, Professor Alexander has served as Reporter to the Uniform Ante-Mortem Probate of Wills Act Project, chaired sections on Donative Transfers and Property for the Association of American Law Schools, and appeared fifteen times in Who's Who in American Law. Mr. Alexander remains a prolific and recognized writer, the winner of the American Publishers Association's 1997 Best Book of the Year in Law award for his work, Commodity and Propriety. Professor Alexander is also author of The Global Debate Over Constitutional Property, published by University of Chicago Press (2006), and Community and Property (with Eduardo Peñalver), published by Oxford University Press (2009).
